	These numbers are bizarre to me. The most recent numbers in France had Marseille considerably bigger than Lyon, and neither anywhere near as big as they're said to be here.

	John - I guess the difference is due to difference census methodologies. Eurostat seems to arrive at consistently higher census numbers than national surveys - I chose them for their international comparability, though.

	Morbo - of course Istanbul and Moscow are two of the largest cities in Europe. This quiz is on the EU, though, as opposed to Europe as a whole - which is why neither city appears in the answer key.

	I'm not sure about the source you have used - there are cities in the source not included in the quiz, e.g. Lille. However, your quiz does match up perfectly with the Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Largest_cities_of_the_European_Union_by_population_within_city_limits - although this page does use Eurostat, there are differences.

	I don't know about the top 40 cities but I would kick bottom at guessing the 41st - 80th biggest cities in the EU.

	I'm sorry - you're right, I missed two cities from the Eurostat list. I've changed the quiz to include them. (I also added a warning about non-EU cities ending the quiz.)

	Minefield quizzes on population at the city level don't really work well, because sources, even seemingly reliable ones, differ significantly. Minefield quizzes work best where the data is consistent from source to source.

	If the name of the quiz is "Can you name the 40 largest cities in the EU without naming 41-80?" then you shouldn't go out on a guess that is not in the 41-80 grouping (ie Moscow & Istanbul)

	I added Moscow, Istanbul and a few others as 'wrong' answers as an afterthought - should I take them out again, if I can't make it clear enough that they'll end the quiz?

	Your information differs somewhat from the source you gave. It seems like the quiz takes a mixture of wikipedia's "largest cities of the European Union" and your source. Stuttgart, Germany triggers the mine although your source lists it with a population of 600,068. If I were you I would just list Wikipedia as a source and take out Bordeaux and Lille, or follow your source more closely. My main fault though is the inconsistency with naming. All the cities use their English names (e.g. Munich not München, Cologne not Köln, etc.), EXCEPT for the Spanish cities. Sevilla is Seville in English, and Zaragoza should at least accept Saragossa, although Zaragoza is more commonly used by the English-speaking world. It's weird that Wikipedia lists the Spanish names for all the cities in Spain, but English names for German. Some foreigns cities don't have English names, like Wrocław and Łódź, but you've written them without accents. All I'm saying is to be consistent. Seville is really the only exception I see, but still. Great quiz otherwise!

	Even by your source it seems there are spanish cities hee that don't quite fir and Poland, Portugal and the UK are somewhat under-represented as their respective national statistics office follow a criteria (city-proper) that most countries don't as collected by Eurostat. I can swallow Paris having less inhabitants than Madrid but not Lisbon having less than Valencia. Surely there must be a more creditable source? Or at least one applying one criterium rather than 27 different criteria.
