There are several LOTR characters who actually have dialogue that are missing - Gildor, Bergil, Erestor, Galdor, Imrahil, Fatty Bolger, and such. Meanwhile, you are nowhere near giving a full accounting of Silmarillion characters, and the choices seem completely arbitrary - Fingolfin but not Tuor? I'd say take out the Silmarillion characters to make room for more actual Hobbit and LOTR characters.

i agree with johnlk, and maybe change the title to, tolkien characters, since you dont just use lotr?

If you're just using lord of the rings then gothmog shouldn't be listed as a balrog since that's from The Silmarillion.

There are many things wrong with this quiz. The title is deceptive, Deagol is spelled wrong, the selection of characters is arbitrary (I don't see why all three trolls from the Hobbit are included but Earendil isn't), and there are no useful clues.

Don't just put a note about the Silmarillion, put it in the TITLE to, or just cut it out COMPLETELY.

I agree with a lot of those above me. I probably entered 100 names that weren't accepted (as well as typing in "deagol" like eight times) with frustrating results. Either make it "characters of The hobbit and LOTR by lines or appearances" or add clues (more than just "man").

I like the quiz and many of the choices, but it does feel arbitrary without a little more to go on besides race. Otherwise I'm just guessing random elves and men. No Earendil and no Erkenbrand? Maybe if each had some sort of brief descriptive hint?

I agree with the other commentators -- without additional clues to the characters' identities, the whole thing does seem a bit arbitrary. Especially for Tolkien who has (literally) loads and loads of characters.

I enjoyed this quiz, but it has its flaws. It is not an exhaustive account of every character Tolien produced. In fact you have not mentioned every LOTR character. Theodred for one is missing. But, if you make sure every character is in here it would be nigh on impossible to name them all. Look at all the family trees and the such-like. Therefore, overall I believe the quiz is a success as to take into account every character is tedious for the creator, and overly difficult for the user.

fun quiz, but I wholeheartedly agree with earlier commenters that some good characters are omitted, while quite obscure ones are included. (Gamling? Damrod? Thrain?) And please -- please? -- fix the spelling of Sméagol's friend's name in the last column. It's Déagol, not Déogol.

Isildur, Gil-Galad, Morgoth (instead of Melkor), Goldberry, Lurtz, Radagast the Brown, Durin's Bane, Khamul, Witch King (two words)... Deagol, as mentioned, is spelt wrong. There were six Durins, Durin The Deathless (The first), Durin II, Durin III, Durin iV, Durin V, and Durin VI. Do I need to keep going?

Sorry, but maybe this could use something in the way of clues as to what exactly you're looking for instead of just "man"...I realize this is probably in the intermediate stages of being changed, but still could at least throw a little something in the way of specifying characters...Still, was a nice quiz originally.

I would complain about the absence of Imrahil and Fredegar as they are quite important in Lord of the Rings, Gil-Galad and Earendil as major Silmarillion characters that are referenced in other books. But I'm not going to make that complaint, for two reasons. 1) Ghan-buri-ghan; 2) I forgot Aragorn. :s

Same as a lot of the above for me. The quiz seems a little random and a few more hints would be nice. You might consider cutting the time down drastically and turning it into a blitz just to see how many characters we can get in a really short time. Overall, great idea for a quiz that needs a bit of work. Good choice on Halbarad though.

Why this particular 100? Selection seems completely arbitrary. Also Deagol is spelt wrong.

For the love of Eru Iluvatar, Morgoth Bauglir, and Tom Bombadil, please make this quiz either all the characters with dialogue, the 100 most mentioned characters in the various books, or something- I about went insane on this one! (And when you take about going insane on a quiz involving Denethor and Feanor, that's a bad sign.)
