Finally this Carmelo business is done, i decided to make this quiz to celebrate it, to answer the draft picks write " (the year) (the round) Round Pick" and for the money, write the amount traded

The Knicks are giving up the future for the present. Carmelo Anthony is a great player but the Knicks gave up VERY important role players and A LOT of draft picks I wouldn't have made this trade.

Yes the Knicks gave up a ton in this trade, but Carmelo is a top 10 NBA player. Comparatively, the players that the Knicks gave up, while having potential, are replaceable. The way the Knicks were constructed, they would have gone no further than the second round of the playoffs. This trade sets up for the Knicks to be serious contenders in two years.

@kbowe Do you really think the Knicks can beat the Celtics, Heat, or Bulls this season or next...... NO! Championship teams have depth and the Knicks gave up a lot and are now short on depth and will be bounced early in the playoffs. Outside of Stoudemire and Anthony the Knicks don't have much.

i actually think that the knicks have a good chance this year and next, they just got billups whose old, but he still has a few years left, if knicks can get a younger point guard, they would be set

Brusox I've got to disagree with you. As a Knick fan I'm not sure how I view the trade yet, but it was a trade that had to be made. No the Knicks wont compete with either of those teams yet. But the NBA as it is currently constructed is about superstars. You need to get a superstar by any means neccessary. The Knicks now have to and thats huge. It is not hard to acquire good role players, and in the next year or two they should be able to build around Anthony and Stat nicely, whether it be a third star ie williams or paul or with a good complement of role players. The Celtics are old and there window will pass in the next year or two whose to say that the Knicks cant step up and fill there void. And who knows how good the player they traded will be. Felton for Billups is essentially a wash, considering they werent gonna keep Felton when his contract is up. Chandler was gone after the year anyway and who knows how good Gallinari and Mozgov will turn out. All I know is as a Knicks fan is at least there is something to believe about again.

@sultanofswing Let me ask you this question are the Spurs made out of superstars..... NO. Duncan is a superstar but Ginobili and Parker, although good, I would not call superstars. The Spurs have the best record in the NBA without the help of superstars because they have a nice balance on their team. The Chicago Bulls really only have one superstar too in Derrick Rose (Carlos Boozer is good but not a superstar) and are serious contenders in the East. The Heat, a team built up of superstars, have a hard time beating the leaders of the East. I think building a team of superstars is overrated and not necessarily a great idea.

Brusox you bring up some great points and I understand where you coming from but again I disagree. I'll rephrase what I have to say. You need multiple all stars to win. Ginobili and Parker may not be superstar but they are all-stars, Rose has Boozer who is an All-Star and Noah who is in an up and comer. The Knicks as they were previously assembled only had one All-Star, they were struggling and they needed an upgrade. They were not built to win and they may have never been. With Anthony now they have a chance to build a winner with the right set of role players. I'll agree that role players are very important and in order for Knicks to be good they will need to find the right role players to put in place. The players they traded are replaceable and the trade gives them a chance to have a brighter future. Do I think they gave up to much yes, but giving up to much is better then not getting him at all.

@sultanofswing I understand acquiring Carmelo helps the Knicks I guess but how can you replace the role players if you also traded away many draft picks. Melo will also be asking for a lot of money and between Amare and Melo's salaries would free agents be willing to take a pay cut to play in New York like many did in Miami (most are probably regretting it). I can't see them beating the East's elite anytime in the near future.

Brusox, we could go back and forth on this all day, I understand it was a risk but it was a risk they needed to take. I could go into how they can improve there team in the future but it will all be ifs and maybes. Personally I think the Knicks have improved and in the coming years compete for Championship, thats probably just the Knicks fan in but you gotta believe. You have brought up great points and it was a nice little fun debate, its nice when yoo have people with different opinions that could talk to each other without being hostile. I apologize to FarmerBob for commenting so much on his quiz.

I'm surprised that the draft picks are the least guessed. There are only like a dozen possibilities so you should be able to get them all just by guessing "2011-2016 first/second round pick", while the more obscure players like Balkman and Carter might slip your mind entirely.

Why is 'Melo more got for Nuggets than Knicks? You get both at the same time? Nuggets is 99.3 and Knicks is 99.2. It doesn't make sense...

I enjoy when people, such as Blinky, mock someone for their grammar, then spell grammar incorrectly. Anyway, I tried the quiz, not a fan of the quiz, but must give props to FarmerBob for his excellent timing in quiz creation to get on the front page!

I got them all right on my first try.... I'm a huge nuggets fan and have followed this trade. I'm very sad Melo and Billups are leaving, but it's better than letting Melo walk. Now we have 2 young and talented small forwards, and a younger point guard, and another 7 footer, along with Koufos as well... This team is now stacked with depth. Carter, Williams and Balkman never played anyway unless people were injured. I hope Billups will re-sign sometime and still retire as a nugget
