The New York teams can be removed as they generally are named after the city, not the state. ;) Also, the Tennessee Titans are missing.

I question the inclusion of the New York teams, especially the Yankees, who I think were named that because they played in the city (compare against the Brooklyn Dodgers...). Interesting quiz

Shouldn't the Titans be included?

I understand (though don't agree) including New York teams that play outside of NYC (Jets, Giants). But for the teams that play their games in the city of New York, how is New York not their city. Also, New Knicks Knicks was the only one I missed for obvious reasons. Plus Tennesse Titans like everyone else said.

My guess is that all of the NY teams were included because of the assumption that the name of the city is New York City. But it's not - the name of the city is just New York, and it's the standard for Sporcle to just call it that.

New York Metropolitans are named for the city, not state. I can technically see the rest staying.

I don't understand including any of the New York teams. Maybe the Islanders should be included. The Giants and Jets, who originally both played in New York City, were named for the city, not the state (which they don't play in, either).

Washington is a district, not a city.
