What about these... "Stan" for all the -stan countries (+ "Turk" for Turkmenistan), "Niger" for Nigeria, and "Hamas" for Bahamas

I was actually trying to stay away from names. "Stan" is a male name with no other real definition. "Turk" is a word for a particular group of people (and if I included that, I would've had to include a ton of other countries because of particular names given to people of specific regions. "Niger" isn't included because it's just a country name (tried to stay away from proper nouns).

Great idea for a game--it took me a minute to realize that the words were embedded within the name, not a separate word. I;ll do better next time.

@MaiPenRai: The question asks for countries that "contain words (of 4 letters or more)."

I think counting "East Timor" and "Ivory Coast" with those spellings is dubious, since elsewhere on Sporcle "Timor-Leste" and "Cote d'Ivoire" are the spellings that are used. Fortunately both of those still contain legitimate English words ("lest" and "cote" (as in dovecote)) which are less esoteric than "rale" or "gree" so you should be able to keep the countries and just change the answers.

Why doesn't it show "Guinea" as one of the words in "Equatorial Guinea"? If it didn't, I wouldn't have missed Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. :)

What about Bulgaria (aria)? You could also include "mania" for Romania.

How about "tens" for Liechtenstein and "ones" for Micronesia? Since you split Sierra Leone to get "rale" how about "sofa" and "fame" for United States of America and "anew" for Papua New Guinea? All the countries that has Republic also has the word "public" in them. What about "glad" and "glades" for Bangladesh?

Like it, but I was just guessing countries alphabetically at the end. It might be more fun the other way around, and for a smaller number of words. For example, what country contains "rune"??? It would have taken me forever to come up with Brunei.

Poolboy and NYCub have good suggestions that should be included. You might also want to reconsider Turk for Turkmenistan. In addition to being a person of Turkish origin a Turk (usually Young Turk) is "any person aggressively or impatiently advocating reform within an organization." I think it's common usage enough that it wouldn't be a proper noun. It's also in the scrabble dictionary just as "one who eagerly advocates change." http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Young+Turk

Like NYCub, I also thought that Bulgaria (aria) should be in this quiz.
