| The majority of the logos are variations of the Latin or Cyrillic letter M, corresponding to the name Metro (I suppose the first one was the Parisian Métropolitain). If anybody wonders about the strange name for Buenos Aires: the first line, finished in 1913, was built by the British, and quite naturally it was given the name "Subterráneo" (later shortened to Subte), which translates literally the English "Underground". |
