Cool idea. The only problem is that the pictures go by a litte fast. And I couldn't get it to take #18.

Great job! Loved the quiz and how it included my favorite empires (Rome and Carthage). The only thought I had is slow down the pictures.

Why do you take Chinese for Tang Dynasty but not Han Dynasty? Also, China should only have one, even though it does have so many fluctuations, and maybe give the most powerful empire of all time (USA) representation.

Did anyone else have problems with the controls? Had to reload the quiz several times, had to click back and forth between a couple of different blanks before it would take my answers, etc. Fun quiz otherwise.

For the "Umayyad Caliphate" the term "Arab" or "Muslim" should also be accepted as answers.

This has a lot of inconsistencies with accepting the adjective or noun form of the empire. It should just accept both

There are multiple Muslim empires, I don't think Arab or Muslim should be accepted.

I was disappointed not to see the Aztec or Mayan empires on here. Both were larger than the Inca by land area, and the Mayans had more cultural influence than the Inca.

Great quiz. Nominating it. I'd like to see a few empires added if possible: Byzantine, Sassanid, Holy Roman, Mogul, Egyptian, Macedonian.

The Umayyad caliphate is one of multiple caliphates; for that matter it's the only one that united all the lands show. After the breakdown of the Umayyads, things were split between the Fatimid caliphate in Egypt and the Abbasid caliphate in baghdad; from there everything went into Feuding Princely States mode.

Although there are multiple Arab/Islam/Muslim empires, devil's advocate there are also multiple caliphates, and that is accepted. Don't mean to be a huge pain/stickler for technicalities (which unfortunately I am being) but I kept trying that for 19.

Agree with those who have been complaining about the controls. It's like being a passenger on a 747 and trying to figure out how to fly the plane after the pilots go down. Lots of clicking back and forth, arrows and boxes and stop buttons ... it's confusing. I spent the first two minutes just trying to figure that out, and even after that had some trouble. Great quiz, but it could really use some more time added to compensate for the learning curve of the controls.

Don't accept "Arab", "Caliphate" or "Muslim". It's ridiculous. There's multiple Caliphates, even along the original line. The difference between the Umayyad's and the two surrounding them is massive for history and Islam. Don't listen to lazy people who want an easy answer at the expense of reality.

Controls were a bit finicky. Maybe add a bit more time to compensate? Pictures went by too fast, so I stopped the slide show and had to click individually; combine that with trying to get the right form for answers, and I didn't even look at the last two pictures before I was out of time. The answers accepted are very inconsistent. Something like "China" or "Chinese" was accepted for "Han", but the Ummayad Caliphate is treated very differently. If you want to be strict, that's fine, but just be consistent. It makes no sense to accept Caliphate alone in any case.

The Umayyad Caliphate definitely should have an easier accepted name, like Muslim/Islam or Saladin's empire, as he is a amous ruler of said empire.

"macedonia" or "macedonian" (I don't remember if the "n" is required or not) works for the acheaeminid empire, as i found out serendipitously. The first time i took the quiz image 11 was not showing: i got a photobucket "this image has been moved or deleted" error. Kind of killed my chances to get 100% on the first go. Fortunately(?) that was never going to happen anyway. :)

Saladin did not rule the Ummayyad empire, as he lived several centuries later. By his time there was an Abbasid caliph in Baghdad, and Fatimid one in Cairo (which he abolished). His family ruled the Ayyubid empire, which was not a caliphate (as it recognized the caliph in Baghdad).

Great Quiz, I would love to see more empires added (Byzantine, Holy Roman, Nazi, Napoleonic, Viking) , and I agree that the pictures go by too fast. You can use the controls to stop it and click each slide manually, but then you have to make sure to click the cursor back to the answer box each time.

"Russian" isn't accepted for "Russian Empire". "Empire" can be left off for British, French, Spanish, German, etc.
