Can you name the countries that border, or have bordered, China since 1912?
created by
Edelweiss
Enter a country in the box below
Correctly named countries will show up below
Answers do not have to be guessed in order
Countries do not have to exist today to be an answer. They must only have bordered China at one point since the Xinhai Revolution of 1912.
The Republic of China and the People's Republic of China count as China. Militarily occupied territory does not count.

As Sikkim was only locally autonomous, the Indian government controlled the border between Sikkim and China. It should be a bonus at most.

Maybe you could put " - present" rather than " - 2012" because otherwise it looks like the countries ceased to exist in 2012. I know it's obvious what you mean but I think it would be better to put "present" and it will save you having to update the quiz every year!

The inclusion of Tibet on this quiz has caused Sporcle to be permanently blocked in China.

Great quiz! I managed to remember the Japanese puppet-state of Manchukuo, but couldn't get Austria-Hungary or Sikkim (which I have admittedly never heard of).

You're forgetting Tannu tuva, the first & second Republics of East Turkestan(Uyghurstan), Mengkukuo (if Manchukuo counts than this one does too), not to mention the cliques (e.g. Guangxi, Yunnan, & Shaanxi)

I can't believe Italy was involved in the unequal treaties. I don't think they were involved in any other colonial projects in Asia, were they?

South Korea, or the Republic of Korea would be a nice bonus, since they lay claim to the entire Korean Peninsula.
