	As you might imagine, this has been the most challenging "Borders of" quiz yet. I have double checked every answer but, inevitably, I probably missed a few, so comments and corrections are always greatly appreciated. A note on the Statute of Westminster--for the purposes of this quiz, the independence dates of the affected countries do not alter much. I used the SoW as a handy cutoff point. I realize that each individual country has some different independence dates, but I used the SoW because it is often unclear which date to use. Many thanks also to Carbon_Rod who pointed out the excellent source site cited above!

	I don't get the Rhodesia-Botswana 65-66 one - is it the wrong way round ? Or am I missing something ? Also you've got various ex-French colonies as bordering UK from 1958 (e.g. Chad, Niger, Dahomey) but they didn't get independence until 1960. If they came before or after Nigeria I can't remember and can't be bothered to look up... :)

	Rhodesia became independent in 65 and Botswana in 66, so the former bordered the latter (and, thereby, the UK) for a year. In 79-80, the UK readministered Rhodesia/Zimbabwe so Botswana bordered that for a year. French West Africa as a whole was disbanded in 1960, but several members of it became independent beforehand

	The unilateral declaration of independence of Rhodesia was not recognized internationally, so it didn't become a colony again because technically it never ceased being one. If you're using "de jure" instead of "de facto" independence dates (i.e. the Statute of Westminster), you may wish to change answers dealing with Rhodesia, but it's certainly understandable if you don't. Also, shouldn't Syria (bordering Palestine 1943-48) and Indonesia (bordering Sabah and Sarawak 1949-63) be included?

	Thanks for pointing out Syria and Indonesia! In Rhodesia's case I feel that the foreign and domestic administration of that country between 1965-79 was not handled by the British, and that it was only technically still a colony because Britain didn't renounce it's claim. I usually try not to use dates of recognition for independence dates. I hope this explains my reasoning... Thanks for your comment!

	Kenya became independent in December 1963. That means that from October 1962 to December 1963, the British Empire bordered independent Uganda, and from December 1961 to December 1963, it bordered independent Tanganyika.

	Nice quiz, you've clearly put a lot of work in. Can you accept "Najd" for "Nejd"? That's the more common transliteration these days (though "Nejd" was more commonly used at the time in question).

	The Rhodesia government of Ian Smith did go rogue but the country didn't get independent til 1980 - and of French West African colonies only Guinea got independence before 1960

	There was no Federation of Malaysia until 1963. From 1957 to 1963, the Federation of Malaya existed as a dominion within the Commonwealth, and then united to form Malaysia with Singapore (forced out in 1964), Sarawak and North Borneo (Sabah).

	Similarly, Tanganyika united with Zanzibar to form the United Republic of Tanzania in April 1964 (I had to look this up), but Malawi (Nyasaland) didn't achieve independence until July 1964 and Zambia (N. Rhodesia) until October 1964. So Tanzania, rather than Tanganyika, was an independent neighbour of Nyasaland and Northern Rhodesia for part of 1964. [I'd also misremembered Singapore's independence from Malaysia, although this doesn't affect the quiz; it was in 1965 not 1964.]

	You might also add Venda as a bonus, one of the homelands that South Africa declared independent (this one in 1979), as it bordered Rhodesia.
