Okay, I have to mention something that annoys me which is probably going to result in some negative numbers. I've had what seems to be a natural aversion to soccer (or football if we must) but bc so many people are talking about it nowadays I've tried to pay attention and learn some things about the game. But it's hard bc there are so many things about the sport that just bug me. One of the big things is the names. There are 5 soccer players included on this list; 3 of them share the same first 6 letters: "Ronald." What's going on with that. Why do some players have single name aliases? Seems kinda lame to me, especially when someone decides to be "kaka." I thought that was a near universal word for human excrement.

Meanwhile, "Metta World Peace" & "Chad Ochocinco" are perfectly normal names... ^^

@Murf1013 Get over yourself. You sound like soccer owes you something. Complaining about some players going by one name? Weak. Because ESPN and American sports fans don't call players by one name. Tell me if you can figure out who these people are by their "single name alias": Kobe? LeBron? Carmelo? Peyton? Tough, I know. And Kaka is short for Ricardo in Portuguese. How dare he go by that nickname when, as an American, it sounds like crap. Can't believe it!

Would you rather have to type their full names? Kaka - Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, Ronaldo (Brazil) - Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, Ronaldo (Portugal) Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro

Many South American Spanish and Portuguese players, particularly Brazilian because as rjw5005 says, they're names are very long, so they take nicknames, it has been like that for a long time e.g. Pele, Zico, Romario. Don't be so ignorant of the sport and especially the people who play it.

Curious as to why this is so poorly rated. Has it been done before?

Well Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is known as Cristiano Ronaldo, so not sure why the other players can't just do that. Not a very strong point. Not saying I agree with him, but if you are going to try to make a point against, then don't pick that example

Oh gosh! Yes, it's so awful for me to say something that bugs me about the sport. @XBigWill: I immediately came right out and said I was ignorant of the sport. "Don't be so ignorant" That's kinda hard to do. You either are or you aren't. @BigPapi: None of those players you listed goes by one name only. 100% of fans know what their last name is. @bullet: Nice examples if you're assuming I find those to be "normal." Those two individuals are complete clowns. This isn't an America vs. non-America thing. It's just annoying that so many names are similar.
