Figures. Less than half of those taking an ESPN quiz know the rather popular nicknames of Ted Williams and Ty Cobb? If Cobb played now he might not be considered a great because it's hard to say "Boo-Yah" after a stolen base.

I thought I knew who Dr. Strangeglove was and was disappointed when Dick Groat didn't come up. I was close, but it turns out it was another Dick.

Some ones that you might want to consider: "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, "Babe" Ruth, "Whitey" Ford, "Goose" Gossage, "Pee Wee" Reese, and Orlando "El Duque Hernandez".

Too many obscure ones here. I never heard of some of the players much less their nicknames. To akabuca's suggestions I would add Gaylord "The Ancient Mariner" Perry, David "Big Papi" Ortiz, Mark "The Bird" Fidrych, Bill "Spaceman" Lee, Pete " Charlie Hustle" Rose, "Sweet Lou" Piniella....etc. etc.
