@utjosh1: Apparently, ESPN is not counting the hits he totaled in the National Association, before the formation of the National League.

I actually just discussed this with a Yankees fan that said Jeter was 14th all time. I guess MLB does not count Anson's hits from the National Association either. Baseball reference does recognize Anson's higher hit total though.

@deej, do you think it's any coincidence that ESPN ran this through an arbitrary Top 14? Why not Top 10, Top 20 or Top 50? Oh, right, #14 on the list is an ESPN promo. Heck, I'm kind of surprised they included guys like Speaker, Lajoie and Collins who aren't part of the pop culture ESPN panders to.
