Roman Gabriel was the number 2 overall selection in the 1962 draft. Ernie Davis was the first pick that year.

If only you'd added one more spot, we'd have two Mannings on the list.

in 1962 roman gabriel was selected first in the afl draft, second in the nfl draft. so i guess technically he was a number one pick, but i'd probably put him in as a bonus

@sinatra22: Yeah, as of week 9, Eli has 142 career TD passes. He could very well get on this list by the end of the season

wow even though with the longevity of testaverde's career, it is still hard to believe he has overwhelmingly way more passes than troy aikman or even bradshaw, two of the at least 10 best qbs of all-time.

Oddly enough, if Carson Palmer continues on his pace this season, he'll finish 2010 with 156 touchdown passes, enough to put him on this list. And he's got another six or seven years in the NFL (though, probably not that many as a starter).

If you are going to include Roman Gabriel then you should also include Joe Namath, who was the first overall pick of the 1965 AFL draft and maybe even Bob Griese (a bonus perhaps), the number 4 pick of the 1967 NFL draft, but the first pick for the AFL that year.

Why limit this quiz to 10 answers? I say put every No. 1 QB on there so we can see how big of a bust some guys were.
