Georgia and Arizona are likely next.

I am disheartened and disillusioned that neither Mayberry nor even Mount Airy made this list.

Shouldn't Elizabeth City appear in some of the early years? Looking forward to GA & AZ.

1900 is just a plain omission on my end; but it gets tricky in earlier years. The Wikipedia numbers have it being on here, but the 1870 Census lists an Elizabeth City district with the Wiki numbers, but a smaller Elizabeth City settlement that isn't large enough to make those lists. However, the 1870 Census is ripe with likely omissions where a town with 1000+ people in 1860 isn't reported -- a holdover from the chaos of the War? -- so I'll err on the side of the more complete district numbers here.

This is really hard even if you're looking at a map.

A former N. Carolinian (20 years, but I've been away almost that many years), I felt good about 91%. Missing Salisbury hurt the most, point-wise, but Goldsboro is the one I knew I should have gotten, for sure. To chriskotx: Cheer up! The essence of Mayberry/Mount Airy would be that it would never make this list. It lives on proud and small, celebrating Mayberry Days annually.
