One particularly striking thing that I don't think's shown up on the other state quizzes like this - no new cities have entered onto the list since Havre in 1950. Just goes to show suburbia hasn't hit Montana quite yet! (for now......)

That's a good point. Evergreen may be the best bet for a new name on the lists for 2020. Another surprising aspect of Montana is for such a sparse and young state, there's been four different largest cities. I knew Helena and Butte were mining boom towns, but Great Falls took me by surprise.

Evergreen is a CDP, not sure if these are included in your count. Anyway, Belgrade next to Bozeman is growing pretty fast (about 7,500 people right now), it could surpass Miles City by 2020. Thanks again for your quizzes! I've found them very fascinating and am learning a lot thru them.

I believe Bannock should be Bannack. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bannock,_Montana

^^^Fixed. (19th century Censuses often have slight spelling variations of frontier areas.) @Apologist49: Thanks! I'm not including CDPs, or else the outskirts of Helena would take up multiple spots in the newest Censuses.

Was Deer Lodge back in the 1800s different from Anaconda/Deer Lodge today?

Yes, it still is. Deer Lodge town is west of Helena on I-90.
