I'd make this an "answer in order" quiz, otherwise it's just spamming big cities. On a side note, "Louis" shouldn't work for "St Louis" (I was going for Louisville).

^^Done, and fixed the "Louis" issue. I had written this quiz over a scrapped one, and forgot to uncheck "accept last names."

Richmond was a bit surprising in front of much larger markets like Miami. Could you add more bonus answers? I specifically thought of Kansas City, Cincinnati, and New Orleans (as well as Miami) as cities I tried on the 2 or 3 I wasn't sure of.

@TLH, how would bonus answers work? You either have the right answer or not. I don't get what you'd want KC to be a bonus for. On another note, Boeing for Chicago seems pretty misleading as about everything is in Seattle except HQ, isn't it?

@pita, you make a good point, but he actually has a bonus for Miami. When I was trying to figure out Richmond (which I eventually got), I put in Miami and it popped up at the bottom as a bonus. It's primarily for the sake of comparison/curiosity just to see where other cities fall.

@pita: About half the total number of Boeing employees are in the state of Washington. Boeing also has a fairly big presence in the LA area, Mesa, St Louis, Philadelphia and now Charleston, SC.

First off, it's not Sherman-Williams. That's the name of a retired NFL running back. It's Sherwin-Williams. Also, @pita, this is about headquarters, not where the most people are located. If that was the case, then half of these answers wouldn't be correct. Boeing's official headquarters are in Chicago, moved there in late 2001.

First off, thanks for the comments. Sherwin-Williams has been fixed (and the jingle is in my head now). For each city I included the largest company headquartered there, and for Chicago the largest company was Boeing; in addition I thought it would be a nice twist for the people that would guess Seattle. One aspect I thought about explaining more was my use of CSAs instead of MSAs: the main reason was so Silicon Valley wouldn't be split in two. The only city this gets a little sketchy for is Washington-Baltimore, but Baltimore has only one Fortune 500 company (Constellation Energy) so the rankings aren't affected.

why would you not split the silicon valley in two? san francisco and san jose are two very distinct cities... and besides, san francisco is not technically in the silicon valley, so i dont really understand that at all...

Dallas and Fort Worth are distinct cities, but have a complete build up of suburbs between and around them, and they function as one metropolitan area. It's a similar situation with the San Francisco Bay area, and I don't like the MSA line between San Francisco and San Jose running through not one but two dense tracts of suburb.

Spell check: it's J.C. Penney, not Penny. Great quiz--I learned a few things.
