| Thanks for the publish, Sporcle. For me, Massachusetts is so interesting partly because you have shifting borders to take into account for one city. Portland is at 8,581 in the 1820 Census, which was taken after Maine became its own state in March of 1820. As well, the state industrializes so early that you can track the same mill towns get big then plateau over nearly two centuries, with a few shipping cities thrown in for the earliest Censuses. Also, Marblehead is just fun to type. |
