Wow, great quiz - a lot of fun to take. Definite "published" potential. See if you can keep expanding it! My only other suggestion is an aesthetic one: in the clues, either put a space before AND after the slashes, or neither - it looks a bit sloppy with a space after but not before.
Apr 20th, 2010 at 17:05 GMT
Neil Young also recorded a song called "Stupid Girl." Good quiz.

Thank you for the comments. Glad you enjoyed it.

Great idea, this was really well done. My only problem is that the "brass" clue only has 2 hints, while all the others have three. I would suggest either finding another song with brass in the title, or choosing a different word, just to keep the quiz consistent.
Apr 21st, 2010 at 16:22 GMT
Good Quiz. Should probably keep Brass but would agree with Saulmeister that a third clue would be good for completeness. The Finns, pre Crowded House, had a band Split Enz and a song Bold as Brass. Also KIC is generally good for obscure song titles and there is a Josh Gracin with a song called Stay With Me (Brass Bed).
Apr 21st, 2010 at 18:05 GMT
The problem I have with adding another entry for brass is that I can't find any songs that fit that aren't so obscure they'd be more distracting than helpful.
Apr 21st, 2010 at 23:48 GMT
Tinto Brass by Porcupine Tree, even though I don't know it, but then I didn't know the other Brass clues so... Anyway, liked it, nominated.
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 03:48 GMT
very good, original quiz. although, shouldn't there be a third clue for the brass answer? only one with just two.
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 14:21 GMT
Alright, I've added 10 new ones and tinkered with a few of the old ones(including a third entry for brass).

Downtown Train is by Tom Waits. Rod Stewart's version is a cover.

I'm sorry sporcle community, I got one because of Lady Gaga. The shame.

I have to give props to any quiz that ranges from Duke Ellington to Metallica, Muddy Waters to Lil Jon, Conway Twitty to Lady Gaga. Truly something for everyone.
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 20:15 GMT
Woohoo, published quiz. My day = made.
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 20:18 GMT
I'm truly hoping I am the only person that thought "Evil Pie" could possibly be a song...Amazing quiz btw!
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 20:21 GMT
So awesome to see Tori Amos here. I'm quite sure she's not the reason that's one of the top guessed answers, but it's still great.

Widest ranging music quiz I've seen. 5 Sporacles for TMBG!

Third Rate Romance was originally the Amazing Rhythm Aces.

I, too, want to praise DragonNo4 for the wide range of music, both in style and in time. I'm so glad to see a quiz that doesn't think popular music began in 1990.
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 22:29 GMT
What @rockgolf and @willwoodlen said. A great range of artists, styles, eras, and title connections to be made. Challenging but fair, and lots of fun! Congratulations DragonNo4.

Peter Gabriel also has a song called "Slowburn." I'd never heard of the Bowie one till taking this quiz. Something new every day I suppose.
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 22:39 GMT
Could you include an example in the directions?
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 22:40 GMT
Fantastic diversity of songs in this quiz, They Might Be Giants, Franz Ferdinand, Duke Ellington, great stuff. I got 29/30 and think that 10 minutes is a great amount of time for a quiz like this.
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 22:59 GMT
bruce springsteen also had a song called "Thunder Crack" (Thunder Crack, babys back...) on his "Tracks" album
Apr 22nd, 2010 at 23:11 GMT
I was too dense to even figure out how to do the quiz until after I read the comments. An example in the instructions would've helped.

too much time - for most of them, either you know it or you don't. Take off 4 minutes maybe?
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 04:40 GMT
@gleekgirl: nope. Evil Pie all the way.
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 04:54 GMT
5 stars for including a Rick Astley song which isn't "Never gonna give you up"!
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 05:05 GMT
*singing* "Sweet Caroli-i-ne..." I had to get that out of my system.

Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, and Lady GaGa all in one quiz = 5 stars. And it was an awesome quiz anyway, the best published in a long time in fact. Congrats.
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 12:25 GMT
Wow, this quiz is like my repertoire. It ranges from the 30's to 2009! I love this quiz because it has all the genres. But I got to note out that your quiz is missing some Elvis, Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and MGMT! I'm saying this because I'm jealous of you! Great quiz!
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 12:29 GMT
First quiz I've seen with a Rob Zombie reference. *Heart Melts*
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 14:42 GMT
I'm sure Bing Crosby is just MY WAY, no word of 'going' in it?? Maybe I just haven't heard of that one...
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 14:52 GMT
Frank Sinatra sang My Way, Bing Crosby sang Going My Way in the movie of the same name.
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 15:53 GMT
Excellent, Slow Burn had me stumped
Apr 23rd, 2010 at 16:30 GMT
Nice quiz. I bet there are enough where you could do a sequel. I thought of a handful just as I was taking the quiz.
