| yeah, fair points -- but I didn't want to clog the quiz up with dozens of teams. Here's my reasoning: to count as a primary team, players needed 4+ years of at least career-average level performance (not youthful cups of coffee or aging backup duties). Hornsby did bounce around a lot, but really, if you look at games played, he only had about 3.5 real seasons in those final 11 years. I see him as a Cardinal well before he was anything else. Mize is a trickier case -- in his four years with the Giants, he was a much more active and productive player (he only averaged about 90 games a season with the Yankees, and he wasn't close to the career-level Mize). But still, he is remembered as a key Yankee of the '50s... I think I'll tweak his listing but leave the others as they are. |
