What is the point of the bonus answer? I remember him specifically refusing to touch the ring.

WindSword-- The bonus answer is right. Gandalf picked up the envelope holding the ring when Bilbo dropped it on the floor the night he left.

Hmm. I got Tom Bombadil but completely forgot Deagol even existed. Good quiz, original idea.

haha I liked this quiz. Even though I forgot about Tom (like pretty much everyone else).

Tom was a pretty unimportant character, probably why he's so unmemorable.

@PatrickCocchia Pretty sure it was Boromir who held the ring in the movie after Frodo dropped it on the way to the Misty Mountains. Faramir was convinced by Sam not to take the ring from Frodo in the Two Towers.

Should Celebrimbor be a bonus answer? He helped Sauron make the rings, although I don't recall how much he was in on the One Ring, plus he's not really a character in the book.

The movies kept leading me astray by trying to guess Bormomir and Faramir and forgetting Tom Bombadil. Nice quick quiz, probably a bit too much time though

Good guess remembering Celebrimor, but he only taught Sauron how to make rings of power. They collaborated on the 7 and the 9 (why Sauron had so much influence on them), the 3 Celebrimor alone knew of/made and the One Sauron made in Mordor.

And Boromir and Faramir both touched it in the movie. NEVER in the books. The only reason I remembered Tom was because I JUST re-read "Fellowship"

Could also have Jack Black as a bonus answer. Anyone who's seen it knows what I'm talking about.

I suggest adding those who touched it in the movies as either standard or bonus answers, or change the quiz info to say it doesn't include the movies. Still, got 8 and a bonus.

Nezu Chiza, the quiz is filed under "Literature" and NOT under "Movies." You should come in expecting the movies to be excluded, honestly.

Oh, my mistake, I guess I'm just like most people who do quizzes on the front page without looking at the categories. I appreciate you taking the time to tell me what I should expect, Mockenrue. Thanks for the info, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Boromir and Faramir should be bonus answers due to the movies. I'm pretty sure they both at least touch it.

Actually in the movie both Faramir and Boromir never touched it. Boromir picked it up in the snow by the chain and it never shows him touching the ring, it only shows him holding its chain. Also, Faramir never touches the ring but in the movie he touches the chain with his sword.

I thought Galadriel touched it (at least in the movie)? Either way, great quiz.

Fun quiz! I kept thinking, "Oh, you know, the guy who cut the ring from Sauron's finger! What the @#$% is his name?!" Never would've come up with it on my own, but as soon as it was revealed, I slapped my forehead in recognition. Also: Even though I tried Faramir and Boromir, I would've been pretty cheesed if they were answers, since the books don't have them touching the ring. Glad to see they weren't there. :-)

I'm sure I"m just forgetting this, but why is Galdalf a bonus? I seem to remember him actively avoiding touching it...

if i am not mistaken DID boromir touched the ring in the book as well (frodo lost it and boromir picked it up, or was about to which isnt touching, but i thought he did picked it up). And if I remember correctly, did Galadriel as well but succeeded to withstand it (or did she refused it anyhow, damn it is so long I read those books)

@ disclaimer: Gandalf threw the ring in the fire. Well the envelope it was in: so Gandalf picked up the ring, but didnt touched it, bonus enough to me

Welius, didn't Gandalf briefly touch the ring in the ground when trying to pick it up? The giant eye of Sauron popped up and then he went the tongs/envelope route.. Right? And Galadriel, I don't think she touched the ring in the movie. She had access to it, but avoided temptation, and passed her self-test, or something..

Gimli hits it with an axe (at least in the movie, can't for the life of me remember from the book). Possible bonus answer? Depends how strict you want to be.
