If you're asking for official names, as is the case with RI, then MA is 'Commonwealth of Massachusetts', for example. Same with Virginia and I believe Pennsylvania. I'm sure many other states have much longer official names; consistency here is key!

Then we should call them the "State of (insert name here)", as it's the same as calling it the "Commonwealth of (insert name here)". Rhode Island is the only state that has a longer name than it's commonly known by.

Yes, but Dirk commonwealth or state is apart of the official names. Which you claim to use in this quiz. All of your answers are the common names, and the rhode island one is neither official or common. So you might as well edit it to the common names. Otherwise good quiz.

I find it interesting how east-coast-centric this quiz is.

As long as the column and title say "official names", then you HAVE to list the full, official name. If you want to leave he quiz as is, you have to change the wording of what you are asking for (and common name wouldn't do it since Rhode Island is the common name).

Yeah, it's back to the drawing board on this one. "Official" means putting in "State of" and "Commonwealth of".

Seems to be right, now. Only question is do you want to include DC, Puerto Rico, CNMI (Marianas), etc., all of which have satisfyingly long names... ;-)

Added a few territories as bonuses that would make the list if they were states.
