"Animated" and "Biographic" should be accepted.

Great idea for a quiz. But could you except just "noir" for Film Noir?

I'm a little shocked by the low percentages getting war & western correct. Alternatively, I may be showing my age as neither genre seems particularly fashionable in modern Hollywood.

Gah, I put in "Music" and assumed that applied for "Musical".

@Statto2: There have been several films that fit into the categories recently. True Grit (western), 3:10 to Yuma (western), and Inglorious Basterds (war) come to mind.

@sweett310 - opposite for me - I managed to get "musical" but not "music". I must have been typing fast...

yeah, I also had the music-for-musical issue , but loved this quiz. @statto2, probably The Hurt Locker would fit in the War category, too. Maybe people were trying for the alphabetical order and didn't get to the W's?

Wait, I got "musical" but not "music"? Well, I guess I was typing too fast. I was typing in "musical" and I didn't pause at all for just "music".

@abbyrose87 Foreign and independent are movie genres for awards ceremonies and film festivals. And I don't think cult is an "official" genre.

I type slower so when I attempted to type "Musical" it gave me "Music" and I said "Oh, okay". Then I backspaced over the "al" now lying in the answer box and moved on to other categories.

Isn't it odd, drn211, that IMDB would include those 4 as "movie genres", when they're obviously meant to refer to TV? When I click those links on the IMDB genre listing, I get a mish-mash list of "nothing in particular" movies, and they don't include movies that might actually qualify for that genre. Odd.

b_n - I agree, I typed 'historical' at least 3 times as I was sure it would be there... but I got 'animation' by typing 'animated' which suggests that there is leeway in some answers but not all. Anyway, coming form someone who missed Western, this argument probably doesn't count for much ;o)

Great quiz, just maybe except gangster and mafia for crime, and war seems a lot like epic, but they're not the same, so don't change that.

'Adult' should be a category. Adult films are hidden by default on the search results but there is an account setting which can change that. Also, 'Short' could be accepted as a genre.

@nobbe and @Razorblade, the site is 'internet movie data base' and if you scroll all the way to the bottom it gives links to it's other foreign language versions (IMDB Germany, IMDB Italy, etc.), so I see no reason why 'foreign films' should not be a genre. US made movies could easily be considered foreign films to non-US IMDB sites...
