It's a good game, but it's St. Moritz, not St. Mortiz.

I think you're forgetting about the 1846 Grand Rapids games.

The first Modern Olympic Games were held in 1896, so the 1846 Grand Rapid Games are not part of this quiz

I live in Grand Rapids and the idea of the Olympics here in mind-blowing.

How did only half get Vancouver? It was only two years ago!

Actually, Grand Rapids makes sense, since it's the home of... Wheaties!

Great quizz! I just think TORONTO and NEW YORK create some confusion, since both these cities held the Paralympics. I know the quizz asks for 'Olympics', but aren't the two games always associated by common sence??

@Wyatts Research shows that half of the world's population are not aware of the existence of a winter Olympics.

@WyattsTorch: Most people (like me) took the quiz alphabetically, and were out before we got to Vancouver.

@Pereking2: I was unsure as to whether this quiz wanted both, or just the summer games (since those are the ones usually referred to as just “the Olympics”). It wouldn’t hurt if the instructions clarified that both winter and summer games are accepted.

Actually, Wheaties and all other Kellog's products come from Battle Creek, about an hour and change from Grand Rapids. I found it funny that it was on there as I'm a Michigander.

Given the global attention of the Olympics at the moment I find it astonishing that less than 60% of people got London.

@barnztormre: Wheaties is not a Kelloggs product. They're made by General Mills.

"This quiz is more dangerous than standing in the wrong place during the shot put." Oh, Sporcle... what a chance you missed here. More than one person has been impaled by a misthrown javelin.

it would make more sense to me if it were only Summer or only Winter Olympics and not the two combined.

One left, and I choose Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a complete guess just because the name is cool. Oh yeah.

I've taken this quiz four times now, getting scores from 31 to 38. And every time I missed Vancouver. What's wrong with me?!

Quick hint: If it sounds like an obscure Alpine village, it is a good bet to have hosted the Winter Olympics.

Great quiz. It was a little bit of the hint that all the red herrings are significant world cities (err, are either significant world cities or Grand Rapids). To really maximize confusion, you could have thrown in some non-Olympic resort towns from around the world.

@jseve001 What, you don't think Van Andel Arena could be upgraded to host 10k people for the winter opening and closing ceremonies? :)

HINT: first, pick all of the cities that's you've never heard of, mostly because they probably hosted the winter olympics, then, ignore all of south america, asia, and australia except beijing, tokyo, and sydney. Then, avoid all the other decoys.
