	How on earth did more than 30% of the people who took this quiz get Rochester, New Hampshire? (At least, at the moment more than 30% have gotten it right.) Were there people who didn't bother guessing New York, New York, and then tried Rochester, and inadvertently got it right for New Hampshire?

	@Fidelio- people assuming New York was named for the city of York, so guessing other large New York cities first. That's how I got Rochester(though I eventually did guess New York).

	I hate to be pedantic, but Los Angeles was originally named after a title for the Virgin Mary. I don't see how that is all that much different than New York or Albuquerque being named after the titles of the nobles they were named after. And if you accept Hilo as being a named after a possibly mythic figure, why wouldn't this work for LA?

	Los Angeles doesn't qualify. The city is named after only a portion of that title, especially a title that is rarely substituted for the person's identity. Dukes, on the other hand, commonly were referred to by their dukedom as opposed to their given names. That's the difference.

	I can't believe how long it took me to guess St Louis, but most of the cities in Missouri are named after people (Jefferson City, St Joseph, Hannibal, Columbia, St Charles ...). Maybe Texas has more (Austin, San Antonio, Brownsville, Lubbock, Fort Worth, Corpus Christi...) It would be interesting to know how many US cities are named after French people (after Americans and British, it must be the biggest nationality).

	Virginia Beach is simply wrong. It did not exist until the 1880s and its name derives from the state, not the person from whom the state was named. Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Richmond also derive their names from places. Arlington (which is technically not a city, but a county) is named for the Earl of Arlington. If you accept that for census purposes it is a city, then it is the largest city named for a person. Otherwise, Hampton is the largest city from a legal standpoint in Virginia named for the Earl of Southhampton.

	Virginia Beach is named after the state, which is named after Elizabeth II. Shouldn't count. Also, I agree about Columbia, SC. It should be the answer.

	BOO!!! Accept "Saint Paul" and not just the abbreviation! Geez!!!!! "junkied": Detroit comes from the French word détroit, which means "straight" or "narrow water passage". The city is on the short river between Lake Erie and Lake Huron. It's named for a geographical feature, not a person.

	Just a suggestion, but it might be nice to add what the population of each city is (after it's already been guessed). I think that would be interesting to know. Plus, then I would know if the other cities I had been guessing were either not large enough or weren't named after someone.

	stupid stupid stupid me, I spent how much time entering second and third cities because I didn't notice it was the largest per state, ONE ONLY per state! DOH!!!!! so my comment ALMOST was that this was too hit or miss ...nope, this was nicely done!
