| @ Db99 - I agree with tahitiwahini. It's irrelevant which is more common where you come from, we have to develop a standard on sporcle, so we can all share in it here. Ivory Coast is more commonly used where I come from, it's even used on the news. However, the official name in the UN, and the name the country requests to be known as in all languages is Cote d'Ivoire. To put it in context for you, a year ago both names were used on sporcle, and in very quiz it was mentioned someone had to request the other name included, and it all became a farce. As time went on, we moved towards a standard. The problem in terms of this quiz, is become that standard has become accepted by sporclers, we look at that anagram and don't have a clue what it could be; for many sporclers, it's just not a country name we'd ever think of, as we've become so accustomed to Cote d'ivoire. So, it's not really a matter of what's proper or not, it's a matter of playability. |
