I don't know if anyone's going to mention it, but one interesting thing I found when making this was the 3 consecutive Phillies-Royals WS there could have been. Though both teams would win a WS in the early '80s, I wouldn't have wanted to be a fan of theirs back in the '70s.

This would be great with other sports too.

Man, it was a lot easier to remember these for 69-93 than for the last 15 years. With 4 playoff teams per league instead of 2, it's hard to keep straight which teams went out in the first round, rather than the second, especially with teams like the Yankees, Braves, and Indians making so many appearances.

masternachos, while it would have been "epic" to have the drama as to which team was going to get past some horrid curse, there would have been no doubt that one of them was going to do it. Even as a Cardinal fan and watching the sweep in 2004, until Renteria grounded to Foulke, I kept waiting to see what kind of cosmic collapse was going to befall the Red Sox. Who knows how long we'll have to wait to see the Cubs try again in a Series?

@MMayes- Well, that is true, I had not thought of that...

Lots of what ifs and interesting scenarios: the Expos making it to the world series in 1981; the Mets and Red Sox meeting in 1988 instead of 1986; the Orioles making back-to-back world series in the mid-90s; the Mariners making 3 world series in 8 years; Manny facing the Red Sox in 2008; and an all-Los Angeles world series in 2009.

I'm kind of digging this alternate universe. Yankees only go to the World Series twice in 40+ years, whereas the Cubs (3), Royals (4), Angels (5) & White Sox (3) all would have changed their destiny!

And what's funny is that both times the Yankees would have gone to the WS, they would have faced off against the Astros.

Needs to be updated to include 2010-12. How do we do that?
