freaking Tigers and Pirates have no history that anyone outside of Detroit or Pittsburgh know about.

Sorry to nit pick but 1915 - 1933 the Minnesota Twins were known as the Washington Senators. Also, you skipped Chipper Jones in 1994. For consistency, you should have skipped 1995 for Ryne Sandberg and the Cubs.

There are a few places with anachronistic team locations: Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves for 3076, New York/SF Giants for 2857, NY Giants for 2730, Washington Senators/MN Twins for 2329, Brooklyn Dodgers for 2322, Washington Senators for 2307, Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves for 2223, Washington Senators for 2084.

I agree with Jthomas that the proper franchise name should be used, not where the franchise is now. Likewise, I'm a firm believer that Yaz should be accpeted for Carl Yastrzemski, particularly if you're going to make us go in order.

Thanks for the input -- this is my first quiz. I've corrected it accordingly. I had thought it would be simpler to use the current name for the franchise, but I see your points about anachronism. Should I also correct the nicknames? For instance, Brooklyn from 1914-31 was the Robins, not the Dodgers, though Dodgers was their longest used name in Brooklyn. Good catch on Sandberg; that was an oversight on my part. I also fixed Yaz. I chose the "enter answers in order" option because putting in certain last names gives you multiple players. You don't actually have to go in order -- you can skip around as you like. Does everyone think 10 minutes is a good time? Not too long or too short?

You must have revised most, if not all, of the mistakes because I see none and think this quiz is excellent. Glad to see that somebody actually used comments for self-improvement rather than just get mad about it.

@ObamaWhiteSox - you could say the same for the White Sox, except most people in Chicago don't even care about them either.

Nice quiz - but just to nitpick, Gil Hodges last year with the Dodgers was 1961 - he was an Original New York Met in 62. No problems trying to use consistent nicknames for teams - prior to WWII, team names were not trademarked, and it was not uncommon for some teams to be 'flexible' - especially the Dodgers situation....

I fixed Hodges -- thanks, exapno! What does everyone think about the time? Is 10 min too long, too short, or just right?

Oh, what do you know about who cares about the White Sox. I don't agree with what he said, but come on, the town's split pretty evenly. The Cubs haven't always been the poster children of Chicago.

Yeah, that's weird about Cleveland. Terry Turner holds the franchise record for the Indians at 1,619 games played, from 1904-19.

Does anyone think this quiz would be better if I randomized the order of the answers? Currently, they're sorted by games played, but it's the team and seasons which give you the best clue as to the answer.

I personally would like it if you switched the team/games played columns, so that the app asks you to "Enter 'Red Sox 1961-83'" etc instead of just "Enter '3308'"--otherwise on smaller screens you have to do an AWFUL lot of scrolling for most of the entries.

What if I shorten the franchise names to Pit NL, NYY AL or Bro-LAD NL or Bos-Mil-Atl NL? That would make for less scrolling, but are those abbreviations intelligible?

I get your logic for requiring the answers to be entered in order, but it's still kind of a pain because of the number of answers. My screen cuts off half the quiz, so you have to scroll up and down between answers. And by my count, there's only two duplicate names -- not enough to stress over getting multiple answers, IMO. Other than that minor quibble, this is a good quiz.

I made it better, I hope. It's still in order (although you can skip around as needed), but I just used the team nickname rather than the whole team name to make the quiz shorter. Does anyone still have problems with scrolling up and down?

I made a sequel (of sorts) quiz to this one on pitchers with 400 games started for one franchise located here: http://www.sporcle.com//games/DJC83/400_gspitch_team/ Constructive comments are welcome. Please enjoy!

OK, after some cajoling, I made this quiz and the one for pitchers not necessary to answer in order. Hope it's better this way.
