	"Bears" should be an acceptable alternate for "Golden Bears." They're often called just "Bears" and it's not like there's another Bear team that they need to be disambiguated from :P

	Technically a "Bruin" is another term for a brown bear. On top of that, Cal's nickname is the "Golden Bears," not simply "Bears," even if they are referred to by that from time to time. It would be like accepting "Heels" for UNC.

	I would maybe include USC in parentheses next to Southern California-- even sportscasters have been instructed not to call us "Southern Cal", since it makes us sound like the southern extension of Berkeley.
