whoops, shouldn't have assumed that the given fathers didn't have their own fathers listed.

Eowyn is Theoden's daughter, isn't she? Why is she not accepted?

Nope - Eowyn is Theoden's "sister-daughter"... that is, his niece. After Theodred's death (just before we meet them), Theoden is childless.

I would have liked to have seen some from The Silmarillion or even just some of the names taken from the appendices.

@Heimdll - I did consider that but I wanted to make the quiz more accessible. As it is, Gálmód, Beregond and Otho are still proving to be quite a challenge for many, although clearly not for you :-)

Nice quiz! Gálmód was definitely the toughest (and I'm ashamed I forgot about Bungo).

Bah. I literally just put down The Two Towers, as I was inspired by the chapter "The King Of The Golden Hall" to try the quiz with Gandalf's names, but, despite Grima being all over that chapter, I completely missed him.

There was a guy named Paladin? I guess that's where the word comes from...

You could include Elladan and Elrohir alongside Arwen.

Any reason why Elros, Elladan, Elrohir, and Anarion are accepted as correct answers but don't show up?

Now that was a hard one. Some were obvious (like Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and Gimli, son of Gloin), but I had trouble with half of them and guessed based on the sounds of their names.

I thought it was just LOTR and missed the Hobbit bit, which was a bit stupid and annoying for me. Still, great challenge, got half of them.
