Great idea, awful execution. There are some teams you didn't include which might be debatable (i.e. is a Raptor an animal?). However, there are others you blatantly missed (i.e. Bills, Blue Jackets, Seahawks, etc.). If those were added, this quiz would be worthy of 5 stars.

how is it awful execution if a few were left out - they can easily be added, which I did. There is, however, no such animal as a blue jacket.

Actually the "Rays" are no longer named after the animal like they used to be when they were called the "Devil Rays". It actually refers to the rays of the sun. And I'm not kidding.

True - Rays is debatable. I'll keep it because it's too horrible to imagine that the team is now named after the rays of the sun.

Actually, took out Rays -- too silly to keep if named after the rays of the sun..

Actually... they still are after the animal. One of their official logos are still the ray.

Well, they're probably both, but still kinda after the animal

I don't know what logo still has the animal on it, but I haven't seen it at all. And this was a quote from the owner when they announced the change, "We are now the 'Rays' - a beacon that radiates throughout Tampa Bay and across the entire state of Florida." Definitely talking about the sun there.

Also missing the Bruins.

What about the Boston Bruins? I think they should probably count too.

Blue Jackets is definitely debatable - if you look at their jerseys in early 2000's, they had a bee on the front (whose name is "Stinger"). You might call me out on it and say it can be argued and go either way, but know your facts before you make a fool out of yourself.

Also missed the Atlanta Thrashers which are named after the state bird.

And the Thrashers, who are named after the Brown Thrasher which is the state bird of Georgia.

The Blue Jackets should not be on here, they had a bee as part of their alternative logo for a couple years but it is really named for Civil War soldiers.

By the way, I included the "etc." in the first comment for a reason - you are still missing others.

A couple other things, you should probably specify that you mean only the four major sports. Also you name "mammals, fish, insects, etc" for categories of animals to be considered, but then wouldn't humans fall under that category as well? That would make this quiz a lot longer. Maybe you should put "except humans".

The Bills are not an animal. They were named after Buffalo Bill Cody. The buffalo image comes from, get this, the city of Buffalo, which shares its name with the large mammal also called a buffalo.

Hot about the Atlanta Thrashers (a bird), Tampa Bay Rays (a stingray) and the Boston Bruins (a bear)? The Rays are still named after the stingray, even though there is a double meaning with the sun. They kept a stingray patch on the uniform even after the name change. There are still rays swimming around in a tank in the outfield.

Bruins are definitely animals. Rays and Blackhawks are also most likely animals, even though there are other possible meanings.
