Way too long, 3 minutes would be more appropriate.

Love it! Really good for practice. Now we just need one from romaji to hiragana… haha.

Could you make "tsu" acceptable for "su"? That's how I always learned it. Otherwise, awesome quiz, thanks. It really helps me practice. *random showing of affection* I love Sporcle!

@HER "tsu" 「つ」 is way different from "su"「す」. I think you mistaken with the extensions on "su" and "tsu" which both are pronounced as "zu" 「ず」/「づ」

@tomadachi, you are right about tsu and su being different, however, I believe their extensions are different as well, just very hard for the western ear to differentiate.

Wow, it's been 25 years since I used these, and they came back almost immediately. Awesome, and nostalgic.

Aregato gozaimasu . Muzukashi desu ne .Once I could write my name in Hiragana .Spare a thought for the Japanese who have to learn some 2600 characters in three alphabetic formats Kanji, Hiragana, and Katekana before they can read an adult newspaper. And you thought learning to multiply using Roman numerals could be difficult . It takes about 5 years for an English speaker to learn to read and write and speak Japanese although the spoken language can be mastered through Romaji (roman letters) in about three months . Easier than Hungarian in my experience.

@Dubln4711: Really? Master a spoken language in 3 months? You'd have to be a savant to do that.

Man, this quiz is so useful. It's the six-week-long summer school holidays down in Australia and I haven't done any Japanese work since early December last year. Very helpful in helping me remember before I go back to school this year! I'm glad it's not katakana; I'm not even going to start learning it until this year. Great quiz.
