Great idea Commodore! I was planning on making this one too, but you beat me to it! Wouldn't be surprised if this gets published someday.

Need to accept "Blackfoot" for "Blackfeet", and you should probably be really generous on the spelling variations for "Potawatomi" (I got it on the second spelling attempt, so I don't know how many alternatives you have there.) Great quiz, very glad to see it.

Agree on Blackfoot. Also, I had no hope of spelling Tlingit-Haida correctly, even though I knew it. Otherwise, this is a fantastic test! :) Thanks for making it. :)

Updated "Blackfeet" as an acceptable answer for "Blackfoot." If anyone knows a good source for alternative spellings of some of the others, I'll update. Otherwise I'll try to find something myself. Thanks for the feedback.

Okay, updated significantly with alternate spellings found through various online textbooks. Let me know if you see anymore.

A possible problem with the source is for some reason it has a massive 'all other tribes' category (447,000) - don't know much about the subject but I guess this may include some which would make the list e.g. Comanche (one of the few I knew due to once visiting their casino) is listed as 14k on wikipedia from a solid looking local source

Nice quiz. I noted that some tribes are rolled up into others and accepted as alternates, for instance the Mohawk for the Iroquois. But I was surprised that "Hopi" got me "Pueblo"...I'll have to look into what the deal with that is, since I thought they were separate.

"Pueblo" describes a group of different tribes around northern AZ and NM. It includes the Hopi, the Zuni, the Acoma, etc., but not the Navajo or Apache (they're from different groups who arrived later).

You might want to change the question to "tribal groups," as it is in the source. As it is now, the question threw me off since I was thinking of tribes in the legal sense. There are, for example, several Sioux tribes, several Chippewa tribes, etc. (And in case someone is wondering: these legal tribes are not synonymous with reservations.)

Good quiz! I'd recommend accepting Haida for Tlingit-Haida, and maybe Yupik for Eskimo.

There's nothing wrong with the quiz, but the source is definitely flawed. (Why should we be surprised? Since when has the federal government treated Natives right?) "Eskimo" is in no way accurate, (there are Yupik and Inupiat people, not some stereotypical group of "Eskimos" that combines them), and it's also inaccurate to lump the Tlingit and Haida together. Their languages and origins are very different.

Oh and also it would be nice to accept Athabaskan (a much more common spelling of Athabascan) as well as Lingit for Tlingit (it's the indigenous spelling). Much props on accepting Unangan for Aleut, but maybe Unangan should be the name that shows, considering that it's their own name and Aleut is a Russian-origin label.
