| For the record, and in case anyone is wondering, my information comes from three sources. First, Free Elements have collected the name of every player to score 50 or more goals in the ETF. Once I had that, I could just google the names I didn't know to fidn the nationality. For the less prolific players, Nick Harriss collected the name and stats of every foreign born (though not, alas, british born but foreign) player in the English League up until 2006 in his book "Britain, their britain". (The problem is he doesn't distinguish between top flight goals and other lower league goals so for instance I had to check the match reports of all notts county top tier games in the 80s to make sure Tristan Benjamin (st kitts) only scored at a lower level.) The Third source, is the wiki/soccer stats list of all foreign players to play in the Premier league right up to 2011. There's already a sporcle quiz on that data so that was pretty easy to find and use. Which means that if there are players left out, it'll probably be a british-born foreign player who scored less than 50 goals before 1992. (Ken Armstrong and Rachid Harkouk both fit in that category and were just found by googling to make sure I hadn't missed anyone.) Though I also might have just skipped a name by mistake while researching it. So if there any mistakes or obvious exclusions please feel free to point them out, I'd be grateful for the corrections. |
