| Except from when the first Irish player won it, it wasn't a republic. It was still part of the UK, it then became the Irish free state and then the Republic. I'm just counting all three as the same because there's continuity between the football teams. In the end of the day, Northern Ireland and Ireland are ruled by different governments and they have different football teams (who play one another), I don't think I need to make it obvious that I've made that distinction. It's a sport quiz and it required some sporting knowledge. The fact that Northern Ireland has a separate football team being one. |
