Just shows what the advent of the Premier League and all the money it brought has done to the English game. Only 14 nationalities before the PL's inaugural season - Cantona winning the last First Division (Top Tier) with Leeds. It's a much more global game nowadays

Excellent quiz. Not to build your team around an Uzbekistani is one of several lessons here I think.

Ken Armstrong was English in 1955. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1957. He played once for England before emigrating and a bunch of times for NZ.

Nice quiz. I did the demonyms thing, too, but I got it in the end. I can't believe I got all of the bottom 5 nations, but missed Valencia's...a sad, sad day for me as an United fan.

Odd that not a single Belgian or American has won it.

If city win it this year we'll have Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Paraguay, Romania and Slovakia to add to this list :)

@FootballQuizMan Nah! If City win it only Belgium and Bosnia Herzegovina will be added, perhaps Montenegro too if Savic plays enough.

How many matches does a player have to play to be counted as a member of the winning team? I was wondering beacuse didn't Richie de Laet from Belgium and Manucho from Angola also appear for Manchester United at the 2008-09 season? Perhaps they just didn't play enough to be counted as League winners. Good quiz, nevertheless!

It's ten matches to get a medal (though sometimes sub goalkeepers or injured matchwinners can be given one by the FA if the club ask for special treatment on account of their overall contribution). So that's the standard I've been using. Neither of the two players you mentioned were any where near getting a medal and nor were a few others who were at winning clubs (starting with the Canadian James Dalton who played one game with league winners Sunderland in 1891).

Surprised to see Robbie Slater as the first Australian to win the football league. Didn't Craig Johnston win it earlier with Liverpool

37/40. Missed Zimbabwe, New Zealand and Italy (!!). Thought Hleb may have been on this list for Belarus, but joined just after Arsenal last won the title it appears.

Belgium should be on here for 2009. Richie De Laet played the last league game for Man Utd in the 2008-2009 season in which they won the league

Just read Cestrian's comment above, so sack my last comment. I didn't know there was a minimum appearance to get a winners medal.
