| @Krazy19Karl: I don't think these two can be compared. The City of Brussels is a "municipality" and has a different standing. I was rather thinking about this: If there were no ethnic problems in Belgium, there wouldn't be the three regions, but only the ten provinces. What would then happen with the Brussels Region? Currently there is surely a government of the region. In the hypothetical new situation there would also have to be a government. The region would probably become a single municipality and a province, too. For example in Germany, Berlin is a single municipality and one of the federal states. So I guess that the current municipalities would turn into boroughs and together form a single municipality. |
