I believe the highest point in Oceania is Mt Kosciuszko- otherwise, good game.

Sao Paolo should probably be accepted as the correct spelling.

^ It asks for most populous city, which is New york at ~19 Million. Mexico City has ~ 8 million.

@DethLeppard: Mount Kosciuszko is 2,228 meters high, and is the highest mountain in Australia. Mount Wilhelm on the other hand, is located in Papua New Guinea and is 4,509 meters high, thus
Oceania's
highest mountain, and that's what this quiz asks for.

I'm quite sure Mexico City has more inhabitants than New York City. my only source is wikipedia here but it says Mexico City has 8,841,916 citizens while New York City has 8,363,710 (both inside the city area, if you count the suburbs and everything as well it's about 10 000 000 more each but Mecixo still has more). Therefore Mexico city wins and the answer should be changed.

@1447 Puncak Jaya is generally accepted as being the highest mountain in Oceania, being in the Oceanian part of Indonesia, and higher than Mount Wilhelm - it is one of the mountains on the Seven Summits list. At the very least could it be accepted as an alternative, CRL1811?

Thanks everyone, I'll take everything into account. susisabela, I've looked at many other sources and I'm going with New York City- I know it's debatable but, hey, one of them has to be right and I can't have two answers.

@CRL1811: How can you say that? "I don't know if the capital of Canada is called Ottawa or Toronto, but one of them has to be right, so I'll just go with Toronto". That's not how it works. Both Wikipedia and World Gazetter list Mexico City as larger than NYC, both by city proper and metro population.

New York has nothing like 19 million residents within its city limits. Mexico City is both larger within the city limits, and larger within the metro area.

Right, I'll take all of this into account. mjob688, I'll change it to Mississippi-Missouri : most websites seem to cite them both as one river. and 1447, the capital of Canada isn't debatable, that's a fact, whereas many different websites cite either New York or Mexico City as the largest city in North America.

-but I've added Mexico City as a bonus answer. There's a compromise.

Why compromise? NYC (US census estimate 2009): 19.069.796, MXC (Mexican government estimates 2009): 19.981.801. Thus, Mexico City is the larger, by almost a million, according to the most reliable sources.
