	I'm not sure you can really call the Vatican a monarchy. The ruler's offspring isn't made ruler after the former dies, the ruler (i.e. the Pope) doesn't even get to choose who follows, a committee does. It's more of an aristocracy really.

	I was a little hesitant about including the Pope, but the source I used listed him. Flixuk seems right though, it shouldn't have to be hereditary for the individual filling the role to be acting as a monarch.

	I think the Vatican is even an absolute monarchy, in that the pope have significant executive power. He do, by the way, get close to chose a successor as he can appoint the cardinals that elect his successor.

	the vatican is a theocracy, which does share characteristics with an absolute monarchy. but if you are going to have the vatican, u also should include iran because they are the same in that regard.
