Great quiz! My only quibble concerns the ranking--why, for example, is chile ranked seventh and norway eighth, rather than both tied for 7th, and so on?

Nice quiz, but I think you could do away with the ranking and just put the number of islands, that way we could see the number of islands for the bonus answers.

I'm surprised Kiribati isn't there as the Gilbert Islands make up the most of it.

@BugleChris: I don't think adding Argentina as bonus answer will offer comfort to Patricio, unless you've pulled off the diplomatic coup of changing the sovereignty of Las Malvinas.

I don't see how the UK is on this list. There are 3 islands in the UK over 500km squared - Great Britain, Lewis & Skye. Looking at your source, you seem to have included Ireland, Cyprus, some overseas territories & various islands in the Antarctic with unresolved claims by the UK, Argentina and Chile.

@ronny_jubber: What about Orkney, Islay, Anglesey, Mull, and Shetland. I certainly would include the Falklands and South Georgia as well. It is one thing for the Argentines to lay claim, but de facto the island's population has determined that they wish to be part of the UK, and they are controlled by the UK, quite a different situation from the Antarctic islands which are claimed but effectively uncontrolled, and should not be included in any country's count.

Thought Portugal would be a dead cert for this, but it transpires many of its considerable number of islands fall just short of the cut off... good quiz!

@gowhere - you're quite right. I missed the km squared column and was looking at miles squared. That'll teach me to look at a monitor for 14 hours a day. Great Britain, Lewis, Skye, Orkney, Islay, Anglesey, Mull, and Shetland, definitely, giving 8 for the UK. The Falklands, South Georgia and the Isle of Man aren't part of the UK though. They are territories and a crown dependency respectively.
