| Ovechkin is a hell of a lot funnier to watch. Maybe this is cause I'm a Devils fan and I've watched the Penguins get whomped by them this year but Ovechkin spends a lot more time on the ice, and considering he went all through March without scoring and still got 50 goals, that's damn impressive.
That said, if I was building a team around anyone I would build it around Mike Richards. Again, this is kind of subjective because of how the Devils did vs. the Flyers this year. But without Mike Richards, the Flyers are the eastern equivalent of the Oilers. If Crosby isn't on the Penguins, they still win the cup last year and they still make second in the Atlantic this year. If Ovechkin isn't on the Capitals, they are the second or third seed. They still win that horrible division; they still have the best plus-minus ratings. But neither of these guys has had to prove himself a difference-maker, especially since they're playing in a post-lockout goals=love world. I'd like to see them play in the 1990s...and comparing the two is weird cause they play differently and one's a centre and one's a left wing. |
