I gotta say, I am a little shocked to see Wisconsin and Michigan so prominent on this list ...

The first thing I did was type in Alaska. The second thing I did was slap myself on the forehead.

I was also surprised by Wisconsin and Michigan being so high on the list. I think the 1 minute of time is perfect- it doesn't allow anyone to just type all 50 states. I got them all with 1 second left.

if the up was still wisconsin, which is what it should be, wisconsin would be #1

@ricestillfumbled: The State of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Territory
never
included the Upper Peninsula. Besides that, unless the U.P. has 16 ski resorts (doubtful), Wisconsin would not be #1 even if the U.P. was included.

Being from northern IL, I've been to resorts in both WI and MI. Not bad places at all for beginners; if you don't go often enough to truly master the sport, then there's no point in going to the big mountains anyway.

A bit surprised Wyoming and Nevada aren't on the list, and that Utah is so low. I figured that was where all the rich Hollywood types had their getaways.

Great quiz and i like how you only gave 1 minute so noobs couldn't just type in all 50 states like BANANNIE said.

it surprised me that the western states like oregon, utah, idaho, montana, and washington (places with actual mountains) are way down the list. Does everyone ski down hills back east?

I'm from Wisconsin and I have skied the UP and am definitely shocked by this list. Also, the UP should be part of Wisconsin. More Packers fans there than Lions fans anyways. Say yeah to da UP!!

@joeskip69: So, you are not aware that there are mountains east of the Mississippi River? There are the Appalachian Mountains, Ouachita Mountains, Sawtooth Mountains, Huron Mountains, Porcupine Mountains, Watchung Mountains, and Catskill Mountains, among many others.
