Just think about it: "Ann" is less popular than "Dax", "Van", "Rey", "Jax" and "Luz". Oh, parents. Don't you feel all unique and special now?

So wait..."Emma" was the second-most popular baby name in 2009? Or am I reading these instructions totally incorrectly?

Of course I get Dax, Rey, Luz, and Gage but forget John! Over thinking it a little, I'd guess!

Great game preferred it to the top baby name games, where I am forever typing in names not on the list, at least here the majority were!!

I was just to comment that a quiz like this but for international short names would be interesting, with the Burmese (Myanmarese?) name U (U Nu, U Thant) being an unbeatable record. But I've just looked it up and seemingly U is a title, not a name.

So people are calling their kids Gage, Ean and Lyla over Mark and Kate? I hope parents realise that kids named Gage typically wind up in gay porn...

@Frozenleaf, I feel stupid now too, but I currently feel that a significant number of people who have had children in the past few years are much, much stupider.

A lot of these three letter words ones I actually had to look to see if it was a boy or a girl names... in the event of Lia, I am not sure if parents know how to spell anymore. Is there a quiz where you have to guess what old(er) popular names rank now?

Actually, Gage is a chick in porn, not gay porn. She's like 20 something and looks 15...

Some of these people are definitely giving their kids cat and dog names, but overall the list was not that bad. No Toms or Dons though. Guess they're all Thomases and Donalds.

I have two friends who are brothers, and their names are Mac and Jax, so I decided to try both of them. I couldn't believe it when Jax came up and not Mac! (Something else funny, when I typed in Jax up there, my computer told me it was spelled wrong/not a word...)

@SapphireSong and jmatt22397: I imagine someone named Jax filling a form in an airport and an airline employee saying to him: "No, here you must write your name, not your destination" (JAX is the airport code of Jacksonville, FL. I learned it here in Sporcle).

I think those naming Dax their children are mainly market gurus (DAX is the German stock index, like Dow Jones in the US or FTSE in the UK).

I have to think that a lot of these names only appear from parents misspelling names on birth certificates. It can't be from choice, can it?
