good quiz, but severely limited for time when it comes to the last 8 numbers. its not like anyone learns the sequence at school

Good idea for a quiz. I would vote for not including the hints, therefore rewarding people who know what the Fibonacci sequence is. Otherwise, it's just addition.

Agree with seb. I think it's a really nice idea but becomes a test of mental arithmetic rather than actual mathematical knowledge once you give the note and then the hints.

I think the point was for it to be a test of mental arithmetic. No one will actually have memorized all the Fibonacci numbers up to 200K.

A good fun quiz, glad I nailed it. And also, 75025 was a neat number.

Just about perfect amount of time for me--I finished with about 10 seconds left.

Phew, eleven seconds left! That math degree certainly came in handy... or not, but whatever.

I agree to take off the hints. Before starting the quiz, I checked to make sure I remembered what they were, only to find step-by-step instructions on every single number.
Keep the overall instructions describing what they are, but other than that, clean it up a little. The numbers are right there, so an explanation isn't needed and since most of the numbers have the same "hint," that's really not needed either.

Didn't quite have enough time to do the last two with my mental math. Pretty neat, though.

taking advanced calculus -- mental math is a no. also surprised that more people got "enter 1" than "enter 0". directions perhaps unclear for the latter?

I like it precisely because it's a test of mental arithmetic. I didn't do all that well, but it was something different for Sporcle.

@seb: I had no idea what the Fibonacci sequence was before doing this, and, without hints, I was able to realize what it wanted me to do fairly quickly.

I guess more people got 1 than 0 because 0 usually isn't included in the sequence? Also, isn't it wrong to include 0? With zeroes in it, the sequence would never grow, correct?

@Max123: I did learn the sequence at school :-p up till 910. I managed to calculate the rest just in time (1 second left). Nice quiz.

@eurythmech: there aren't "zeroes" in the sequence, there's only one 0.

I thought 2 minutes will be too much, but I didn't make all, missed th last one. Fibonacci seems les important - it more about fast counting, but I think there is u group of Sporcle users (including me) that would like to have some fast counting quizes from time to time :)

sub: Well, yeah. I guess. But still, it seems counter intuitive for the series to rise with a zero in it. It means it needs to have two starting integers.

There has to be a mean selection bias for this game: I refuse to believe that 1 in 20 people make it to the last element.

either that, or some of you are denigrating the game by using calculators...I bet that left you just enough time to miss a couple answers at the end, with your slow hand speed

Just managed to finish it at the 5th attempt! My suggestion would be for the last 5 or so answers to add the numbers one by one from the right, hitting the left arrow after typing each one and obviously remembering to carry the 1 over where necessary (so if you were adding say 44834 + 24229 you'd type 3,left,6,left,0,left,9,left,6 - it does work out quicker, honest!)

The columns not lining up made it a little tougher (especially the last one). I added them left to right, looking to see if there would be a carry. (using tbh's example, 44834 + 24229 -> 6, 8 but the third column will be 8+2, so make it a 9, etc)

Great fun, I like the clues, otherwise I would have had 0, it is just a test of mental math, that's why it's only 2 minutes.

Very fun game. Most people don't even know what the Fibonacci sequence is. This quiz does need at least another 30s to it. I have a physics and math degree and could not finish in time...lol!

Only 3% of people finished? I thought the time was about right. I think I still had about 20 sec left.
