| Nationality is a tricky word, but I think it's pretty clear from a general perspective what the point of this quiz is. The note at the top of the quiz states that players are classified according to the country they represented (or would have represented) at the international level. Thus, even though England and Scotland are not independent, players from England and Scotland are still not called "British" - because their respective home countries are full members of FIFA. In the 1960s and 70s, only Yugoslavia was a member of FIFA - not Serbia. Your insistence that Petrovic and Ilic be labeled Serbian here is really nitpicking, and seems to stem from some nationalistic sensitivity rather than an understanding of what this quiz is really about. Mind you, I am perfectly aware that the players in question are Serbs, and I fully respect that, but this quiz is about nationality, not ethnicity.
On another note, I have given further though about the West Germany issue, so I have added the word West in parentheses to clarify any confusion. |
