| BooYAH, Dilfer should be their top QB simply because there is a distinct lack of compelling alternatives. There's no one whose Ravens resume is so much better than Dilfer's, or so good on its own, that it makes up for Dilfer's having led them to the title.
As for rmo, it's more than that. The numbers are a wash? Fine, but numbers don't exist in a vacuum. Relative to their respective eras, Staubach's numbers are much better. But more importantly, Staubach was simply a much better QB and leader. He led those teams. I grew up watching Aikman - he was like the sixth greatest force in that franchise at that time, behind his running back, his head coach, his owner, Deion Sanders, and on and on. He was very good, yes - but he was not demonstrative or an obvious leader, he just happened to be a capable QB who won the lottery. He had the best o-line in the league by far, HoF (or near HoF) level talent at RB, WR, and TE, and one of the top defenses in the league. It's just not comparable IMO. I give Aikman his credit but he's not in Staubach's class.
And yes Len Dawson is an easy pick over Montana for KC. Montana's not even in that discussion, it's Dawson and Trent Green. And Dawson wins. |
