Ok, I'm from Kentucky. Our abbreviation is UK for University of Kentucky. So, I always put UK first on these sports games. What happens, Kansas comes up. Whoops! You know, their abbreviation is KU for Kansas University. Sorry, might wanna fix that one.

Agree with Dramathorn...as a Kentucky native and fan and a Mizzou grad I was insulted to see Kansas pop up when I typed in UK!...seriously though, they just need to be switched.

NYU is a private school, different from the SUNY system...so it's not the same as Michigan working for University of Michigan. I'd say you keep it NYU or New York University.

@rondo723....its still New York University...you don't have to put in Kansas University to get Kansas, or University of Kentucky to get Kentucky, or include University in any other school on this list, so why should you have to put it for NYU?

@gleity: I could be wrong, but those abbreviations are generally reserved for state schools, maybe because they represent the state (like Kansas and Kentucky). As I said, NYU is private so it doesn't make as much sense to call it New York since it does not represent the state like State University of New York does. Anyway, really doesn't matter to me, I was just throwing in my two cents.

@Dramathorn: Kansas is KU, but it is still referred to as the University of Kansas, not Kansas University. All of the old Big Eight schools are abbreviated like that, CU for Colorado, NU for Nebraska, MU for Missouri, OU for Oklahoma.
