| @jcpout. I believe that when the "old" Browns were sold to the new owners of the Ravens, the Browns retained the rights to the name AND all the previous history of the "Browns". In other words, the sold the "rights" to A franchise (which became the Ravens), but KEPT the NAME and the TEAM records and then applied them to the "new" expansion franchise "Browns". Convoluted. But that's why BROWNS records stayed with the Browns. Oilers records went with the team and became Titans records, because the owners purchased the franchise lock, stock and barrel (and records!). |
