| Well this quiz got me interested in the whole Middle Tennessee vs. MTSU thing. I don't know the cause and effect behind it (if media outlets began referring to their sports teams as just Middle Tennessee or the school started to do this), but on the school's own athletics page they just refer to themselves as just Middle Tennessee(http://www.goblueraiders.com/content.cfm/id/54483). This is both on the poster on the coach's podium and on the advertisement for their upcoming game against Purdue. Even the home page of goblueraiders.com refers to the men's and women's cross country teams as just Middle Tennessee. It seems as if people who are more familiar with the school itself may call it MTSU or by its full name, but the school itself seems to brand its sports teams as just being Middle Tennessee(thus I think just Middle Tennessee should be acceptable). I think that this case is almost exactly like the case with Bowling Green they are pretty much always referred to by this name (and I've seen BGSU), but I never hear their sports teams referred to as the Bowling Green State University Falcons. If this quiz just takes Bowling Green then it should just take Middle Tennessee. Since this whole long-winded thing is about non-AQ teams I will also say that he inclusion of teams from WAC, MAC, the Mountain West, C-USA, Sun Belt, and a D-I Independent was great. |
