If I were petty, Id rate this a 1 just because I had to type "Kotite". But, fortunately, Im not, and its a good quiz.
Apr 28th, 2010 at 21:56 GMT
Ah, the immortal, and appropriately named, Rod Rust.
Apr 28th, 2010 at 23:53 GMT
Stunned to see Bud Grant pop up when I typed his name near the point where time ran out. I'm assuming Bill Belichick isn't higher up because his name is a pain to spell.
Apr 29th, 2010 at 02:58 GMT
Bill Belichick was the coach of the Jets for a couple of days in 2000 after Parcells left
Apr 29th, 2010 at 17:58 GMT
agreed y2j...ditch rich...what a proud period in time for the philly faithful...and the jets faithful for that matter...
Apr 29th, 2010 at 18:58 GMT
livinglegend, I think it's entirely appropriate to disregard Belicheck's minutes of tenure as the Jets head coach. He resigned at or just before his introductory press conference. Besides, if there's no interim coaches, it's silly to include one that never coached a game.
Apr 29th, 2010 at 19:54 GMT
just one thing, delineate between jim e mora and jim l mora. yes, i am nitpicking.
Apr 29th, 2010 at 22:20 GMT
Ah yes there sure were some entertaining press conferences during the Jim Mora years. The immortal "Playoffs??!!" rant as well as the day he started crying and pounding his fist against the wall when he was fired come to mind.

@Colt45 Don't forget the "Didley-poo" rant with the Saints.

I could never spell Morhinweg correctly...
May 1st, 2010 at 18:36 GMT
I knew so many more that I was unable to spell...Belichick, Mornhinweg, etc.
May 1st, 2010 at 20:22 GMT
I am a huge Steelers fan and even I could not name the coach before Chuck Noll.
May 1st, 2010 at 20:45 GMT
it was painful to type "switzer"
May 1st, 2010 at 21:02 GMT
Thank you, Bill Simmons, for helping me come up with Rod Rust.
May 1st, 2010 at 21:33 GMT
Technically, Chuck Studley was the then Houston Oilers interim head coach after Ed Biles and before Hugh Campbell.
May 2nd, 2010 at 00:34 GMT
Being an old Oilers fan pays off on this one!!!
May 2nd, 2010 at 01:45 GMT
I'm confused, did anyone else have trouble getting Belicheat to be accepted?

Cue the "Gosh let it go. The NFL said it's all good, and they would be honest with us just like MLB players/owners and NBA refs were so quit being jealous" posts in 3,2,1...
May 2nd, 2010 at 03:03 GMT
Andy Reid was easy to remember, as he is in his 11th season of choking.
May 2nd, 2010 at 06:56 GMT
I'd almost managed to block Steve Spurrier from my memory. Thanks a lot, Sporcle.
May 2nd, 2010 at 13:15 GMT
Props to Jeff Fisher for keeping being the longest-tenured active coach and props for the Titans/Oilers for keeping him around. I always thought Mike Holmgren and Any Reid were the same person with different aliases.
May 3rd, 2010 at 00:13 GMT
love how the steelers go back to 1965 and some don't even make it back to the year 2000
May 3rd, 2010 at 17:31 GMT
its coaches not coachs
May 3rd, 2010 at 22:55 GMT
How has Jeff Fisher been able to stay head coach for 16 seasons?
May 31st, 2010 at 04:46 GMT
Pittsburgh Steelers so epic.
Oct 6th, 2010 at 02:28 GMT
It's "it's," not "its."
Dec 9th, 2010 at 20:20 GMT
If you added the interim coaches for Denver and Dallas, you should do the same for Minnesota too. Good quiz!
Dec 11th, 2010 at 11:46 GMT
Terry Robiskie was an interim coach for the Cleveland Browns after Butch Davis got fired. Likewise Emmitt Thomas for the Atlanta Falcons after Bobby Petrino. If you're not including all interim coaches, you shouldn't include this year's until they get the full time gig.
Jan 7th, 2011 at 17:18 GMT
Bud Grant coached for more than 1 year in Minnesota
Jan 23rd, 2011 at 04:49 GMT
you need to add frazier for the vikes...
Jan 25th, 2011 at 10:10 GMT
I don't see how you can already have the 49ers Harbaugh and Panthers Rivera updated and not the rest of this quiz. Please make these changes: +Pat Shurmur, Cleveland +John Fox, Denver -Eric Studesville, Denver (interim) +Leslie Frasier, Minnesota +Hue Jackson, Oakland
Jan 27th, 2011 at 03:11 GMT
I agree, some of these guys haven't even coached a game yet, so technically they probably shouldn't be added yet until they have coached a game. Yet, Leslie Frazier is missing, he was hired full time after finishing the season as the interim head coach.
Feb 3rd, 2011 at 19:02 GMT
good thing Sal Alosi isn't on there
Mar 26th, 2011 at 20:11 GMT
how is mike munchak updated but eric studesville is still on here?
Apr 13th, 2011 at 15:40 GMT
Maybe you should update this list for John Fox to come up for Broncos head coach when you enter it. It only comes up for the Panthers.
Oct 21st, 2011 at 23:13 GMT
who the f*** is Eric Studesville and since when does he coach the denver broncos??
Nov 12th, 2011 at 01:16 GMT
john fox is the current coach for the broncos
Dec 13th, 2011 at 16:28 GMT
Also need to update Haley and Sparano being fired the other day. Studesville served as Interim Coach when McDaniels was fired last year.
Dec 23rd, 2011 at 23:23 GMT
Jack Del Rio got fired, for the Jags, Mel Tucker is interim right now. Please update this quiz more often!
Jan 13th, 2012 at 19:14 GMT
Also need to update Mike Mularkey as new Jags coach, Romeo Crennel as new Chiefs coach, and Jeff Fisher as new Rams coach.
