I was surprised to see Orioles by Reggie Jackson's name. But I did look it up instead of coming straight to the comments section and assuming that it must be wrong just because I didn't know it.

Ahh two of the top 3 were featured in the Simpsons episode "Homer at the Bat". Smithers sure knows how to recruit ball players for Mr. Burns. MATTINGLY!!! Get rid of those sideburns!

@HollywoodLeo: You are a gentleman and a scholar. What a revolutionary idea--actually looking things up in order to correct previous misconceptions. That could catch on.

So I am pretty sure Marcus Thames hit 8 home runs in a span of 7 games in 2008, is there a reason he is not on the list? In fact I believe that he hit 8 home runs in 8 at bats.

I feel a little bad for getting Dale Long, since I only knew his name because of it being brought up whenever Griffey tying the record was discussed in Mariner games. I didn't know who he played for and in a crowd I wouldn't know him from Adam.

@chilly1193: In 2008 Thames had a stretch of eight straight hits that were all homers, but they came in a period of 10 games. His longest streak of consecutive games with a homer during that stretch was five games.

I knew the three record holders right away. I remember Howard's streak.I had to think about who might have done it on the Padres. Same with the Orioles. Lucky I remembered Jackson played for them that year. Anyway I got the top score so far.

I didn't realize how hard this was going to be. I knew the three with 8 right away. Then I went to the teams and years. I remembered Howard doing it. But even though I knew Jackson played that year for the Orioles, I couldn't think of a single 1976 Oriole.

This quiz loses all creditably as it excludes Marcus Thames, who hit a home run in seven consecutive games in 2008 for the tigers.
